When choosing a poker table you must be cautious and aware of what you’re getting or what you could get stuck with. There are many poker table builders out in the virtual world that make bold claims to the quality and standards of their tables. And for the most part they are selling poker tables that don’t even come close to the quality they claim or the prices they command.

Things to look for when purchasing a luxury poker table are types of materials used, table options and craftsmanship. This will tell you who you are dealing with and what you can expect to get if you buy from them. Interviewing the builders will help you get the table you want and hopefully save you from getting taken to the cleaners.
Materials used on luxury poker tables should include
Speed cloth logo
high grade leather on the arm rests, high quality felt or speed cloth on playing surfaces, closed cell foam pad under playing surface, a 2.2 lb high density rail foam with a Dacron wrap, metal drop-in cup holders, solid wood chip trays and high quality wood veneers (a good craftsman will be knowledgeable in wood and veneer qualities).
Asking questions will allow you to find the your comfort level with the craftsman. They should be knowledgeable on all types of wood and finishes. Ask about lead times and means of transportation. How will your poker table be packed and shipped? Can they explain their building process. Is this something they do on the side after their day job? Questions like these will tell you a lot about the person you are going to give a deposit to. You shouldn’t buy a table from someone who is vague and impatient with his responses. If the builder takes his business seriously he will pre qualify you with questions at the same time.
